Do you ever get the feeling that you’re spending too much money on clothes? I know that I do, and my allowance isn’t even that big! So for all the future fashionistas out there, here’s Frannie Frugal’s do’s and don’ts for saving cash on clothing!
First off, don’t wear the new stuff you just bought around the house. What’s the point in that? You bought it so you could show it off! What happens if you’re wearing that cute, perfect, new pair of jeans while you’re doing your chores in the kitchen and you happen to spill bleach on them? They’re ruined, you’re out one super cute pair of jeans, and more importantly, you’re out the hard-earned allowance money you saved up to buy them! Talk about tragedy!
Something that I’ve started to do is shop online (well, when mom and dad let me). You can get great deals on websites, plus you’re more likely to be able to find something in your size online, since their inventory is not restricted by the size of the store. A lot of times you can get free shipping and coupons for future purchases in addition to the already great deals you’re getting!
Don’t have any hang-ups about buying a bathing suit in the winter or a heavy coat in the summer. Shopping out of season is a perfect way to save money on your clothes. Clothing suppliers work on supply and demand just like everyone else, so prices for items that aren’t in season are going to be greatly reduced compared to when everybody is out looking for the same thing. So, shop out of season, save some cash!
Finally, learn to sew. A small rip or tear in your shirt or pants doesn’t mean they have to be relegated to the “laundry day” attire. Buying a sewing machine and learning how to repair those minor lacerations will stretch the life of your clothing and, as always, SAVE YOU MONEY!
So, if you’re in need a few new duds, try this out! And if you’ve got some ideas of your own, don’t be stingy! Let us know what delectable morsels of savings knowledge you’ve got! Au Revoir, mes amis!

Shop at thrift stores! I made a promise to myself that this year I would only buy clothes, except underwear and socks, at thrift stores. When I buy new, by the second washing it doesn’t look new anymore. I bought two sweaters and three shirts last week at the Salvation Army thrift shop. Cost me a whopping $8.
ooo i buy coffee books and old records at thrift stores,
never tried clothes though.
i usually wait for the 5 for 25 sale on underwear and socks
