REI has a used gear sale every quarter. Im an avid camper and enjoy being out in the wilderness. Most my stuff has come from the gear sale and its useually close to being brand new. I hhave saved hundreds of $s on gear beacuse of the gear sale

You can find cheap campsites in national forests and they're free if you boondock (also called dispersed camping). National forest campgrounds don't have many services, usually just an outhouse, a garbage dumpster, and maybe a water spigot. Each campsite within the campground will have a fire ring and maybe a picnic table, but hey, it's camping after all. Dispersed camping is even more primitive, usually just a fire ring. But we're talking $10 a night and less, so it's VERY affordable. Bring your own water, a folding table, and a shovel that you can dig a toilet hole with. You're all set. :) Happy trails.
