The holidays are upon us, and the urge to splurge is again at the forefront of our minds.

We all want to give generously during the holidays, but this year, many families will be cutting back. While large and lavish gifts were in vogue during this time of year in the past, common sense and the restraints on our wallets have changed our way of thinking about the holiday season.

Holiday gifts do not need to be expensive, just thoughtful. Here are some ideas to give friends, family and co-workers some great gifts, without breaking the bank and allowing you to keep the peace of mind that your finances are not going to be in dire repair after the new year.

Spread the word. RSVP to the event on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=177150942214, then invite your friends to let them know that you care about them–not expensive gifts.

I really like the frugal 5 for $5 idea. Does anyone know where they purchased all the gifts from?

Hi Janae,

All of the gifts came from a local Dollar Tree store, but you should be able to find similar deals at any of your local “all-a-dollar” type stores.

This was a great post for the holiday season we were just in. Yesterdays message at church was about materialism also. Keep up the good work!
