FrecklesWe all love our pets, but in today’s economic climate, it may be a little more difficult to provide for your furry little loved ones like you know you should.

Here are a few frugal-minded tips to help you keep your pets happy and healthy, while still keeping cash in your wallet.

1. Vaccinations!

Vaccinations are extremely important to maintaining the health of your animals. Preemptively taking care of small issues like vaccinations and regular check-ups for your pet will prevent them from becoming big, expensive problems later on down the line. Spend a little now to save a lot later.

2. Don’t overfeed your pet

Maintaining the diet of your animal is important for two specific reasons. First, not over-feeding your animal will save you a great deal of money on pet food. Second, obesity in animals, just like in humans, can be extremely detrimental to their health, which you’ll notice in the stack of veterinarian bills which will start to pile up if you allow your animal to continuously eat more than what is required for their nutrition.

3. Home Grooming

Taking care of your animal’s washing, clipping and trimming needs at home will save you a great deal of cash and provide you with some great bonding time for you and your pet.

That’s it for now, but be sure to check out the links below for even more great information on frugal ways to care for your pets! See you tomorrow, adventurer!

February is also Spay/Neuter month – many organzations will be giving out coupons for low-cost/discount spay/neuter. Some of the campaigns have names like SNAP (the one my area uses). Your local Humane Society will probaby have more information or search the web for your area.
